Heidi Clayton, 2010- 2 Wheels 4 Hope Beneficiary
Heidi Clayton, Local cyclist, began riding her bike 10 years ago entering mostly in the Perimeter events (El Tour de Tucson, etc.). Six years ago she decided to start road racing and quickly moved up to a CAT 2 racer in less than 2 years. Most recently, in the last two years, she has taken up mountain bike racing focusing primarily on the long distance endurance events. Her greatest accomplishment to date is her 6 year old daughter, Taylor who enjoys riding her bike just like her mom.
Heidi was hit by a car after a morning training ride in Ahwatukee on Thursday. She was transported to Maricopa Medical Center to receive treatment, and is faring well so far. Fortunately, Heidi made it through a long, hard surgery and can wiggle her toes; she has a broken back, but there is NO paralysis! Heidi is going to have a long, hard road to recovery, but she is an incredibly tough woman.
Heidi would like everyone to know how thankful she is for all the heartfelt thoughts and prayers. As she continues to get stronger, she looks forward to your visits.
